Match Bar Lounge with Facebook group [Taiwan Summer 2008]

Saturday night I joined a Facebook Group event~ it was really fun, and I met lots of strangers, who are now friends ^.^

I think there are around 200 people in that group, of the 200 only about 10 showed up... =.= I was expecting like a group of 50 or something, it was disappointing at first and kind of boring cause I was shy, but once I drank a couple of drinks, I opened up haha~ then it got interesting, drinking games hahaha I was always the king buhaha!! luckily I didn't have to do any silly things while I ordered them to. Suming said that a lot of people aren't even back in Taiwan yet, that's probably why only 10 people showed up.

There was a lot of ABCs, and only three CBCs including myself. Only one Calgarian~ the other two were friends and both from Toronto. The crowd was a smart crowd, if you know what I mean, academically they were very educated. I was the YOUNGEST again, I'm the youngest everywhere. Oh and there were people from New Zealand, that was pretty cool. There were people from Texas, Miami, Virginia, New Zealand, Toronto.... and Berkeley university? hahaha oh and ONE LOCAL!!!

They were speaking of a thing called Love Boat, which is from my understanding, a group of people who are mainly ABCs that come back to Taiwan to learn about the culture of Taiwan for a month, meet new people and such. I thought love boat was something cheesy, what a name.

Lavender Forest/Garden

Today my friends took me to the Lavender Garden. The car ride there was long and boring and holy crap, immature people annoy me. I was the only girl in the car the whole way there~ they spoke as if I wasn't there with such low intelligence topics. By the time we get to Hsinchu, it was already kind of late, then the boys couldn't find the way =S it was very sad. Anyways by the time we got to the actual Lavender Garden, it was pretty late and the place was closing soon. We met up with the other group of people that I didn't know, which included two very high maintenance girls. It started raining when we were driving uphill, and thunderstorm =( too. We only walked around the garden for an hour and it was raining hardcore, good thing they were handing out free raincoats (the yellow ghetto ones). These girls were complaning a lot so some of the guys wanted to please them, so then we had to leave the forest. I was not impressed at all, I wasn't happy! As we were leaving the forest, the thunderstorm got stronger, and rainwater was starting to flood, and we were stuck in traffic (stuff in the flood) it was very nasty. All the boys took down their pants and sat in their boxers haha! cause the rain got their jeans wet. I just sat there... staring out the window. We walked around the Hsinchu Old Street, many little shops and eats =) we had a nice dinner. After dinner, we drove home to Taipei and I took the MRT home since they lived in Taipei County, and I live in Taipei City. It was a okay day.

TOEIC test tomorrow at 9:30 am

okay, so I completed one listening practice test (intermediate level) and one reading practice test (adavanced level), I wish I could get the advanced level for listening though but I don't have the CD for that. I didn't really study much for TOEIC, just one practice test... so I hope I do well tomorrow.. need some luck!

Oh and people are giving me way too much pressure, people make stupid mistakes too sometimes.

Nervous, but excited. Why? I'm nervous because I have a test tomorrow, I'm excited because I get to see my classmates again tomorrow after my test! YAY~

Hope our trip is safe and sound ^.^

Oh I almost forgot... I get to meet "Deal" tomorrow! This will get interesting.

Today is the first reunion with my grade six classmates! I met up with Genie first at her station and then shopped around in Far East Shopping Mall for a while then met up with our other classmates and our teacher, Mr. Fu! My FAVORITE teacher of all time, hands down, all time. We had bbq at nearby restaurant, all you can eat style. I had so much fun, but too bad Genie had to leave early, she had curfew =( So then me and the rest of the boys, took the scooter and rode uphill, yay we went to the mountains to look at the nightview of Taipei County. It was nice, I had lots of fun =) thank you guys. Thank you for taking me home too, I really appreciate it, it was a far ride for you guys~

Haircut Day!

My sister asked me to go meet up with her at the Zhongshan Station, so there I was... waiting. Today is the day I finally get my haircut after being in Taiwan for SO LONG! (okay, just a week or so) I was walking around the MRT station and there I saw a gallery of paintings, wow. I don't usually see this inside a train station, it's like a art museum! My sister called me a tourist, but hey I am a tourist and also a dual citizen return home for a visit~ After the haircut, my sister took me shopping at Idee because there was a sale? I took the picture of my haircut inside the shopping mall =D

I had a Dream

I had a dream last night. Amazingly, it was school related, once again. Why do I always dream of school while I am on vacation or relaxing.
This time it's a different dream though. Although we were in a school but the classmates that I was surrounded with were ... somehow different than usual.
I see familiar faces, from eight years ago.
They were my elementary school classmates in grade 6. They all changed a bit, the looks, the personalities...
But the changes that I saw in the dream were the changes that I expected or anticipated from them, personally.
From little bits of what I could remember now about the dream...
We were attending some program that must be completed for the university degree *sorta like the program I attended in Calgary*
I can only recall one face, the person that I competed with academically in school in the past. The target of all time for every one of my quizzes and tests.
I don't know why it wasn't my best friend instead.

Anyways, I guess I really want to see my old friends and see how they turned out. I want to know what happened to them.. and what happened to class after I left. How was the graduation trip and such. I really want to go to a reunion. Let's hope there is one for me to attend, unlike last time.

Outing with Taipei auntie and cousin

I have way too many relatives in Taiwan. Today I went out to eat with my aunt that lives in Taipei. She has some walking disability, so we could only stay in one small area of Taipei, walking distance of course. Luckily she lives close to the main core, hot spots, like Taipei 101. My cousin lives very close to my sister's apartment (I stay at my sister's place while in Taiwan) literally 1 minute away. She lives in the apartment building next door! I walked over to her place and then off we went to my aunt's place by taking the MRT. What is MRT? It stands for Metropolitan Rapid Transit, map here. She doesn't live far from us, it took us maybe 10 minutes by transit to her house. We walked to a quite cafe to have lunch where nightmare begins. They started asking me all these questions about my mother at home (Canada). Nobody in my dad's side of the family likes my mother... and it's for a reason, in fact, a VERY good reason. Well, because of the hatred, they like to talk shit about my mother, and I just had to be put in the middle of everything, like always. Why do I have to suffer through this? After maybe 2 hours of talk, excluding meal time, we finally left that cafe and walked to my favorite building in Taiwan - Taipei 101. Not a very good day though, rainny.

out of place

Do I appear different than other people? Do I not look Taiwanese? Some say I look Japanese... Some say I look Korean, is it because I have such a fat body with a big head and big fatty cheeks and small eyes? I have natural pink cheeks, and I get shy easily... so then it gets apple red. I guess I can save money on blush.

I feel so out of place
in Taiwan
Everytime I go out
there's those odd eyes following me
I can feel those eyes scanning from top to bottom
I have peripheral vision too you know?
I can see, I have eyes, I know you're looking.

Taoyuan HSR

The Taoyuan station for Taiwan's High Speed Rail isn't that pretty. I went to see it after my dim-sum experience which was disappointing... then THIS is disappointing too. Because I am studying to be a civil engineer, it's natural for me to express interest in transportation, structures and such. I haven't been on the HSR yet, maybe next time =D I heard that you can't feel a thing inside, but it's going SO FAST. Here is a virtual tour of the Tauyuan station from the HSR website directly.

Disappointing Dim Sum

This morning, my daddy and his girlfriend took me to Dim Sum and I had such HIGH expectations... Well the prices were very high, the food quality was alright, but the serving size was very small for the price. In comparison, I would definitely pick Calgary Dim Sum over Taiwan Dim Sum. I miss Calgary food now!
